As our week once again starts with a blue day we are glad it is going to be a short one!
This morning we did some research to find out about how the indigenous people of Alberta used all of the parts of the buffalo. Did you know that besides providing food the buffalo was also used for:
- sinew were used as bowstrings and as thread- poo was used to fuel fires
- tails were used as flyswatters
- buffalo skulls were used in religious ceremonies
- bladder was used for a waterproof bag
- lower hide was used to make tipis, shields, containers
- horns were carved into spoons, cups, ladles and decorations
- ribs were tied together to make sleds
